Slattery & Holman, P.C.

Offering personal attention to clients is one of the characteristics for which Slattery & Holman, P.C., a Carmel, Indiana-based accounting firm, is well known. As a corporate sponsor of the Kelley Indianapolis’ Career Planning Office (CPO), the firm engages in this same approach when recruiting new employees.

“The CPO makes it easy for us to make our presence known on campus due to all of the recruiting event opportunities that are available,” said Kelly Spaulding, Slattery & Holman Senior Accountant. She also heads up recruiting for the firm and is a 2002 graduate of IUPUI. Spaulding completed her MPA in 2005.

“Compared to other campuses, the CPO’s recruiting process is the most convenient.  We like having the ability to post jobs online, as well as review resumes and select the candidates that we want to interview.  The convenience of being able to schedule interviews online and know in advance who we will be talking to is an added benefit.

In addition to on-campus recruiting for full-time positions, Slattery & Holman uses the CPO to find qualified candidates for its internship program. The accounting firm hires two to three interns each year – many of who are subsequently hired as full-time employees.

“We enjoy meeting students at the Kelley School of Business because of their diversity.  Not only are they well prepared academically, but many of them come to us with real-life experiences that have helped prepare them for the CPA profession,” Spaulding said.

As an employer, Slattery & Holman offers a diverse range of opportunities for employees, including experience in the full spectrum of accounting services and consulting. The firm’s clients span a variety of industries, including health care, construction, real estate, law, marketing, technology, insurance, transportation, manufacturing and distribution.

“It is important to us to continue to make a presence on campus so that students will think of us when it comes time to find a place that they want to build a career,” Spaulding said.
