Graduation FAQs
- Do I have to do anything special to graduate?
- You must submit an Intent to Graduate form with all the correct information at least 6 months before you plan to graduate. Please see deadline dates. Failure to submit the form may keep you from graduating when you want.
- When do I graduate?
- You officially graduate when you finish all your requirements and are certified by the Recorder. The three graduation dates are May (date of commencement), August 31st and December 31st. If you go through commencement but still have courses to finish in the summer, you do not graduate until August 31st.
- Why is my graduation date not the date of Commencement?
- Students may participate in Commencement ceremonies even if they will not graduate until a later date. Students who graduated in December of the previous year, tentative May and tentative August graduates all participate in May's commencement ceremonies. Tentative May and August graduates are not graduates until they have finished all their requirements and are certified by the Recorder.
- When will I get my diploma?
- Your diploma will come to our office about 3 months after your graduation date. The Recorder will send an e-mail to your IUPUI e-mail account letting you know it is in the office ready for you to pick up.
- Where can I pick up my cap and gown?
- University College Room 115 from May 7-May 10.
